Whether you’re joining us for a Broadway show, a concert, or a special event, we want your visit to the Scranton Cultural Center to be seamless from the moment you leave home. Find directions, parking options, box office hours, and everything you need to know about what to expect when you get here.

Directions & Parking

Directions are listed below according to major interstates coming into the greater Scranton area.

  • From Western PA take PA Interstate 80 East to PA Interstate 81 North.
  • From Philadelphia take PA 476 (toll) to PA Interstate 81 North
  • From Harrisburg take PA Interstate 81 North
  • From Binghamton take PA Interstate 81 South
  • From New Jersey take NJ Interstate 80 West to PA Interstate 80 West to Pa Interstate 380 North to PA Interstate 81 South
  • Choose one, then follow below:
    • Stay on PA Interstate 81 to Exit 185 “Central Scranton Expressway”
    • Take the exit ramp and follow along approximately 1 mile into downtown Scranton.
    • At the first traffic light (intersection with Jefferson Avenue) continue STRAIGHT.
    • Turn RIGHT at the next traffic light onto ADAMS Avenue.
    • Follow Adams Avenue to the THIRD intersection with VINE STREET.
    • Turn LEFT onto VINE STREET.
    • Go ONE BLOCK to NORTH WASHINGTON AVENUE.
    • Turn LEFT onto NORTH WASHINGTON AVENUE.

The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple is located on your left hand side. It is the second large stone building on your left.

  • Follow JEFFERSON AVENUE to the THIRD intersection with VINE STREET.
  • Turn LEFT onto VINE STREET.
  • Go TWO BLOCKS to NORTH WASHINGTON AVENUE.
  • Turn LEFT onto NORTH WASHINGTON AVENUE.

The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple is located on your left-hand side. It is the second large stone building on your left. Check with the Facility Director’s office about availability and location of street parking for trailers and buses (570) 346-7369 ext. 107 or 112.

Parking is available at several downtown lots and at any open street space. Note that meters are enforced until 7:00 pm most business days and holidays. Areas with white and red NO PARKING signage and/or orange cones are reserved for production use and unauthorized cars parked at these meters will be towed at the owner’s expense. Additionally, patrons are advised not to park in any lot in the vicinity marked as PRIVATE PARKING, as vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Handicapped Parking: There is no designated handicapped parking for the Center. Please refer to the parking garage information below. There is a drop-off area for loading/unloading, no parking in this area is allowed.

SCRANTON PARKING AUTHORITY / THE CAR PARK GARAGE: Entrances at; 311 NORTH WASHINGTON AVENUE,  418 MULBERRY ST, or 415 LINDEN ST. The Garage charges hourly rates. Visit https://scrantonpaparking.com for Current Rates and other garages. Note that when leaving the garage after an event, wait times to exit can be 45-90 minutes, we recommend street parking or other garages first due to this, though this is the closest public garage.

Visitor Policies

Patrons should leave at home or in their car any prohibited items and bring only what you need in an approved clear bag, wallet, purse or wristlet when you visit the theatre. This helps to efficiently improve the safety of all patrons and work to get our large crowds into the theatre before show time.

Please make sure you arrive early to the venue. We recommend being at the exterior doors for security screenings at least 30-45 minutes prior to show-time which means you should look to arrive and park at least 45-60 minutes prior to show time.

Only wristlets, wallets, purses or clear bags are permitted and will be inspected by our security team.  Purses and clear bags will be inspected in a separate line – to expedite your entry please do not bring these items. This policy will be enforced.

The following items are prohibited in the Scranton Cultural Center and patrons will be turned back to their cars at security screenings if prohibited items are brought to the theatre. Please check your pockets in pants/coats to ensure you do not miss the performance due to bringing one of these items:

  • Backpacks
  • Diaper bags
  • Strollers
  • Large bags
  • Large Fixed and Non-Collapsable ‘Golf’ Umbrellas (only pocket-sized umbrellas up to 12″ are allowed)
  • Coolers
  • Any food or drink including water bottles
  • Smoking paraphernalia
  • Weapons and threatening objects are prohibited

Please have your pockets empty and coats open for inspection by our team prior to approaching them.

Pocket knives, weapons, or any other threatening objects, bottles, cans, glass containers, horns whistles, banners, noisemakers, laser pens, cameras, video cameras, recording devices are also prohibited.

There is no re-entry to the venue once you have entered and gone through our security inspection. Should you leave and exit the building you will not be readmitted.

Seating Policy

If you are uncomfortable or have any concerns, please contact an usher or the House Manager immediately to address the matter. The Late Seating Policy is at the discretion of the management and varies from show to show, please ensure your arrive early as there is generally a 10 minute wait after curtain.

Seating Holds

There is generally a seating hold for most performances, meaning that if you have not arrived at your seat prior to the published curtain time you will be held in the lobby until the house manager is allowed to seat you so as not to disturb the performance. In some cases, this may be 10-15 minutes or even until the intermission break as per the performance agreements. To avoid missing any of the performance, leave yourself enough time to arrive, park, gain access through security and ticket checkpoints to find your seats.

No Babes In Arms

It is the policy of the Scranton Cultural Center that all attendees must have a ticket for entry to an event. As a courtesy to our audience, very young children are not encouraged to attend, except for shows specifically for children or a show designated as family friendly. Children, when admitted with a ticket, must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult. Persons disrupting a performance will be asked to leave (this includes, but is not limited to, coughing, crying, talking) until the disturbance has been corrected.

Cell Phones, PDAs, Pagers and Alarms

Please disable or turn-off all electronic devices that may generate audio or light upon entry to the theatre.

Accessible Seating

A special seating request must be made at the time of purchase. Please note that seating for individuals with special needs is handled on a first come, first served basis. Note that there is no elevator access to the Mezzanine or Balcony level seating in the Weinberg Theatre. Those who cannot or wish not to climb stairs should select seating in the Orchestra level. Restrooms

Restrooms are available on the lower level of the Cultural Center. Please use the stairs or elevator to go one floor below the main lobby. There are additional restrooms in the mezzanine lobby for those in the balcony or mezzanine seating.

Emergency Exits

For your safety, please take note of the location of marked emergency exits throughout the building. The exits indicated by the sign nearest your seat are the shortest routes to the street.

Audio/Video recording and photography

Cameras, audio and video recorders are prohibited from use at all performances. Cell phones, PDAs and other electronic devices should be disabled or turned off upon entry.

Smoking

The Scranton Cultural Center is a smoke free facility. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the building. Smoking materials including lighters, cigarettes, cigars, pipes, matches or other flammable items, e-cigarettes and vaping materials are prohibited inside the building, patrons will be turned away and may miss the performance if they are brought to the venue.

Early Entry

There is generally a seating hold at the beginning of the show.

To avoid missing any of the performance, leave yourself enough time to arrive, park, gain access through security and ticket check points and find your seats.

Keeping Our Guests and Staff Safe During COVID-19 as the Show Goes On!

The following are protocols for visitors, adopted by the Scranton Cultural Center Board of

Directors, in order to help safeguard everyone’s health in response to COVID-19:

Face-Coverings /Masks are highly recommended to be worn by all patrons when entering the building

and during all indoor activities and performances. 

If at any time you

  •  Have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 10 days,
  •  Were diagnosed with or tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days,
  •  Currently have COVID-19 symptoms, or
  • Had COVID-19 symptoms within the last 24 hours,

Please do not attend the performance.

Some performances/events and events may require additional measures which will be communicated in advance and once again prior to entry. To be certain as to the specific measures in place at an event you plan to attend, please check our website or call the Box Office at 570-344-1111.

The Scranton Cultural Center reserves the right to update this guidance as necessary to reflect current recommendations from public health authorities.

Mobile Entry and Mobile Tickets:

Please refer to Ticketmaster’s guides regarding how to access, view, download and/or add your tickets to your digital wallet.

Ensure that you can access and download your tickets prior to coming to the venue. You must present your mobile ticket barcode/QR Code upon entry. If it is not immediately available you will be asked to leave the entry line and return.

Payment

The Scranton Cultural Center Box Office accepts cash, checks (with 2 forms of ID); Scranton Cultural Center issued Gift Certificates and money orders at the Box Office window. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are also accepted at the window and by phone. When charging by phone, your order will be held at Will Call under the name you give unless you instruct the Box Office to mail them to you via USPS. There are additional per ticket convenience charges for ticket orders by phone. Any service charges incurred at the time of purchase are non-refundable. Returned checks are subject to a $25.00 service fee.

Seating Availability

Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. While we will make every effort to accommodate your specific seating request, we cannot guarantee specific seating availability due to the large number of outlets selling tickets for events at the Center. Purchase early to get the best seats.

Reservations

No seats will be reserved without receipt of payment at the time of the order. Tickets cannot be reserved with a credit card for later payment by cash or check. When picking up tickets ordered by phone, fax or Internet, you must present proper identification, including the credit card used to make the purchase.

Group Sales

Group pricing is available on most performances and does vary by event. For more information please call the Box Office at 570-346-7369.

Will Call

Will Call Window will open 1 hour prior to the performance. You must present the proper identification to pick up tickets at the Will Call Window.

Lost Tickets

Lost or misplaced tickets will be duplicated only for the person under whose name they were purchased. Proper ID and proof of purchase will be required.

Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, the show will go on as scheduled unless the performers are unable to attend. This is the only situation in which a performance will be canceled and refunds issued. Any service charges incurred at the time of purchase are non-refundable.

NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. Examine your tickets closely upon receipt. If there are any discrepancies, please contact the office, outlet or online service from which you purchased the tickets immediately to remedy the problem. Any problems with your ticket order must be handled at the point of purchase.

Donating Tickets

If you were unable to attend a performance presented exclusively by the Scranton Cultural Center for which you have purchased tickets, you may return them to the Box Office at least 48 hours in advance of the published performance time to receive a tax deductible donation for the amount of the tickets. Tickets for events promoted by outside renters and organizations cannot be donated in this manner. Please call the Box Office at 1.888.669.8966 for further details.

If you are using this number as emergency contact information, please be sure that you also give the name and time of the performance you are seeing, the name your tickets were purchased under, and if applicable, your seat locations.

Accessibility

We want every guest to enjoy their visit comfortably and confidently. Here’s what to know before you arrive.

Accessible seating is available in the orchestra level of the Weinberg Theatre. Please note that there is no elevator access to the mezzanine or balcony levels — guests who prefer not to use stairs should select orchestra-level seating at the time of ticket purchase. Special seating needs must be communicated at the time of purchase. Contact the Box Office at 570-346-7369 or stop by in person.

A drop-off and loading area is available at the building entrance for guests who need assistance. No parking is permitted in this area. For parking, the Scranton Parking Authority Garage (entrances at 311 N. Washington Avenue, 418 Mulberry Street, or 415 Linden Street) is the closest option to the building.

Accessible restrooms are located one level below the main lobby. Use the stairs or elevator to reach the lower level. Additional restrooms are available in the Mezzanine lobby for guests in the balcony or Mezzanine seating areas.

The Scranton Cultural Center is a historic landmark, and ongoing restoration work continues to improve the facility. Several rental spaces throughout the building are ADA accessible — see individual room pages for details.
